another pixel in the wall

Over at Blogsavvy, James Farmer has engaged a few Structured Blogging buffs in an interesting discussion. I’ve chimed in with a remark on a question I found on someone’s blog somewhere about searching blog posts by date using regular search engines. So far no-one tags blog post dates, do they?

I’ve yet to read the paper James gave on Centred Communication at Blogtalk Downunder last year - soon it will be time for the next one. This functions as a note to self to get on with reading all those papers…

And by the by, I wonder if the folks who developed this let the kids run their hands in the water. Pixels or no pixels, we’ve already got one of those walls.

tags by date, hmmmm - interesting. Not a bad idea for certain applications. Thanks!

Since writing this note-post on the matter, I’ve gone a little deeper into these things, Jon. Google has a blogsearch facility, launched last year (others hot on its heels), which allows searching blogs for posts on certain subjects, yada yada, over a range of dates.
Evaluations of the blogsearch tool were rife around September. Some liked it, some found it missing quite a bit of stuff. It would be interesting to conduct a search for known posts (i.e. some you wrote yourself!! or an obscure one on an unusual topic) and see how it performs. John Tropea ( who I’m just about to add to the sidebar, Library Clips) may have already done something like that, perhaps check his blog out?
    Thanks for dropping by!
